In line with the compan's initial strategy of strong commitment to quality The international standard, also known as SPICE, provides a solid basis for evaluating and improving quality systems with regard to relevant processes in software product development.
Safelayer Secure Communications, a leading Spanish company in the field of PKI security software, digital identity management and data protection, has achieved level 3 of the ISO/IEC 15504 certification awarded by AENOR. This international standard, also known as SPICE, is a method for evaluating and improving all relevant business processes of a software development company. Level 3 is the highest that has ever been awarded in Spain.
ISO 15504 is an evaluation standard used by companies to assess their quality system with regards to product development procedures such as software production processes, operation management, product maintenance and technical support.
The standard enables organisations to identify their level of quality compliance from a total of five. In addition, ISO 15504 encourages ongoing improvement since once the company’s current level has been identified it receives guidelines to achieve the next one.
In line with Safelayer’s fundamental commitment to the quality of its products and services, it has become the first Spanish company devoted to PKI security technology that has been awarded the standard, certified by AENOR and achieved through the PROFIT Project of the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade.
"Being awarded the highest ISO 15504 standard in Spain means our clients are ensured that our products and services are of the highest quality. From the outset, this has been one of our main objectives," says Adrián Moure, Executive Vice President at Safelayer.
Since 2002, the year Safelayer certified a series of security requirements for PKI environments, agreed on by different sectors of the Administration, companies and universities, the firm has taken steps to achieve systematic accreditation of all its products. That same year, Safelayer received the ISO9001 certificate for Security Software Design and Development.
In 2005, the company renewed and expanded the certificate to other consultancy and training services, becoming the only PKI security software manufacturer to receive the certification. It also achieved the first EAL2 Common Criteria certification for its KeyOne version 2.1 product range.
In 2006, Safelayer was awarded the CC EAL4+ certification for its recent KeyOne 3.0, endorsed by the Spanish certification scheme (oc.ccn.cni.es), becoming the first company in the world to be rewarded the certification for a complete PKI product configuration.
